Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a therapeutic technique which uses very fine needles to enhance flow through the body's fascia (connective tissue) to encourage healing from illness and stimulate recovery after injury, surgery and stress.
The most heavily recorded tradition of Acupuncture use, in recent history, is in East Asian Medicine, however, these classical concepts of health and illness are also evident in classical Greek and European medicine. With literally centuries of diligent work in this field, from eminent physicians, having been recorded in written format, there is a wealth of information to be utilised for the modern practitioner.
Despite how strange it may sound, Acupuncture treatment is actually quite relaxing. The needles themselves cause very little pain, due to the tiny size and special design of an Acupuncture needle. Patients also experience a release in endorphins and often report a sense of calm and well-being during and after treatment. (*)
Scientific research in this area is steadily increasing, providing exciting ways forward for the use of this exceptional system of medicine in modern treatment.

Legal standards of training are typically 2 days, up to a few weeks of practical training, for the use of these terms, as opposed to 4 years of full-time training for 'Registered Acupuncturists'. (see AHPRA, Chinese Medicine Board of Australia, for Registered practitioners). ]
