One-on-One Lessons

In your first lesson, you’ll gain first-hand experience of the Alexander Technique, what a lesson is like, and what direction your further lessons should take.

Using gentle manual guidance, your Alexander teacher assists you in unravelling distortions and promoting a more efficient stance and breathing. In addition, your teacher uses verbal instruction to teach you how to become aware of your own patterns of tension and how to cope with them.

You may be asked to sit or walk. Your teacher will give you verbal feedback while using his or her hands to gently guide you to awareness of physical tensions, holding patterns or distortions that lie beneath your conscious awareness.

Alternatively, you may be asked to lie on a firm table while the teacher helps you identify and release unhelpful holding patterns. This is a pleasant, relaxing and educational process that students enjoy, it’s gentle and painless.

Any activity you enjoy can be incorporated into a lesson; for example, bending and walking, exercises, martial arts forms, horseback riding, playing a musical instrument, working at a computer, etc.

Initial lessons last one hour, while ongoing lessons last 40 minutes.

Group Lessons

A class can be conducted in small groups and can be arranged around specific situations or activities, such as at your workplace, the gym, or wherever else you desire.

It is a great way to move past a problem if you have been stuck in some particular activity and need help.

The classes can be taken online or in person.

Workplace Training

Among federal government employees, 64.6% of workers’ compensation claims were related to musculoskeletal injuries. Are you worried that stress and injury will cost your company a lot of money this year?

Workplace injuries can often be prevented. Occupational Overuse Syndrome (RSI), back pain, and neck pain all result from poor body positioning in daily activities.

After hours, weeks, and years of passive compression, it may amplify into sudden acute pain, or settle into nagging chronic discomfort, and even predispose to injury.

As the focus tends to be on short-term pain relief, relieving stress symptoms, or just ergonomic solutions, it may be very difficult to diagnose these underlying causes.

Nobody benefits from this approach. Work may be disrupted, key employees may be absent, rehabilitation may be lengthy, and compensation claims may be made.

A program can be designed for clerical staff, managerial staff, manual handlers, or other groups. The Fit for Work - Fit for Life program is intended for those suffering from work-related injuries or stress disorders, and for those wishing to avoid such problems.

This program is delivered on-site.
