What is Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a gentle and non-invasive form manual medicine focusing on total body health. Osteopaths aim to achieve this by treating and strengthening the musculoskeletal system with the goal of positively influencing the biomechanics, nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems.

Pain and discomfort can arise from joint restriction and tissue tension in and around the site of pain. Osteopathic treatment addresses the biomechanical compromise and facilitates the body’s inherent self-healing mechanism encouraging normal function and pain reduction.

Osteopathy is a primary health profession that is government registered and regulated by AHPRA, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. To achieve such status, Osteopaths need to have completed a five-year University degree including a Masters of Osteopathy, maintain current first-aid, and undertake annual mandatory professional development study to keep skills and knowledge up to date.
