Debra is a clinical psychologist with a wealth of experience supporting people to live well. She offers the support you need to move forward with issues including stress relating to work, home and finances, feelings of worry, self-doubt, disconnection or hopelessness, trouble sleeping, grief and loss, past or recent trauma, and living with persistent physical pain.
Debra works by considering all aspects of a person’s experience in supporting their health and well-being, and has particular expertise working with adults in the following areas:
- Chronic pain
- Anxiety and worry
- Phobias
- Depression and low mood
- Stress
- Sleep problems
- Trauma, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma
As well as providing caring and effective evidence-based treatments tailored to the individual, Debra brings warm-heartedness and humour into the therapy room. She draws on a range of psychological modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. Debra also has a particular interest in mindfulness-based approaches, having completed her doctoral research on mindfulness at the Australian National University. Debra has extensive experience incorporating mindfulness practices into individual therapy as well as facilitating mindfulness groups.
Debra holds unconditional registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, and has an area of practice endorsement as a clinical psychologist. She is also an approved supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia and provides clinical supervision for provisional psychologists and registered psychologists undertaking the registrar program toward clinical endorsement. Debra is a recognised Medicare provider and a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
In addition to her clinical work, Debra is passionate about providing education and training to health professionals including psychologists, physiotherapists and medical practitioners on range of topics, lecturing on chronic pain management at the Australian National University and the University of Canberra, and providing clinical supervision to provisional psychologists.
In her spare time, Debra likes to travel far and wide, exploring the many beautiful places of the world.
