What Is Dream Therapy
Dream Therapy is the practice of working with our dreams to discover their real personal meaning. When we understand our dreams there is real potential for spiritual & psychological growth as well as healing past trauma and negative life experiences. I use Jungian Psychology and Transpersonal Psychology as the frameworks for my Dream Therapy practice.
What Happens In A Dream Therapy Session?
Most of my day-to-day work is with regular clients and in this case, prior to the session my clients send through to me their dreams since our last session. I then carefully read through these dreams and select those dreams that offer the most valuable insights for the dreamer.
Then in the session, we discuss the selected dreams and I offer insights as to the personal meaning of each dream as well as how the wisdom in each dream can be applied into daily life.
What Types Of Dreams Do I Work With?
- Most of my dreamwork sessions are with people who have started dreaming more frequently and often more vividly. Please see my website page on what is an Intensive Dreaming Stage for more information.
- Trauma dreams/nightmares.
- Recurring dreams.
- Dreams where sleep paralysis is experienced/false awakenings.
- Twilight dreams / astral projection / out of body experiences during dreams
Dream Therapy For Spiritual & Psychological Growth
Committing to authentic dreamwork is a profound form of spiritual practice. The two psychologies I use in my dream therapy practice are Jungian and Transpersonal Psychology. Both psychologies are centred on spiritual / psychological development which is why they are so effective for the accurate interpretation of dreams.
When people suddenly start dreaming more frequently and often more vividly, this can be a strong sign that there is now potential for spiritual / psychological growth for the individual. Please see my website page on Dreams As Part Of A Spiritual Awakening for more information.
Dream Therapy For Dreams Relating To Past Trauma (Often Nightmares)
Jungian and Transpersonal Psychology have a profound understanding of how trauma and negative life experiences appear in dreams. Often trauma related dreams are repeated to the dreamer over time, informing the dreamer that this trauma/negativity remains unhealed and is negatively impacting the dreamer’s spiritual and psychological wellbeing.
Usually within three to four Dream Therapy sessions, we begin to see positive shifts in the dreams of individuals who have experienced past trauma.
