Imagery Rescripting:
"Imagery rescripting and reprocessing therapy (IRRT) is an imagery based cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) treatment designed to facilitate cognitive restructuring of trauma based beliefs and schemas through client directed rescripting of distressing images and memories" Smucker et al, 1995.
In other words, although you may not be able to change the reality of what happened, you can change your perception and in the process stop loosing power to the person, situation or event. This technique is a favourite of mine. It is very empowering for the client and I have had a lot of success with this as a therapist and using it on myself.
NLP - Neuro linguistic programming
"Neuro" refers to an understanding of the brain and its functioning. "linguistic" relates to the communication aspects (both verbal and non verbal) of the information processes.
"Programming" is the behavioural and thinking patterns we all go through. Thus NLP is the study of the structure of the subjective experience - in other words, how you perceived the experience through your map of reality and not to reality itself. We tend to communicate and operate from these maps. NLP is the art of changing these maps, not reality.
EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique
EFT ( Emotional Freedom technique) is a very empowering modality as once you learn it, you can do it on yourself. EFT is another great way of balancing the body's energy systems (A set of subtle electric circuits that flow along meredians through the entire body.)
The aim of EFT is to release blocked emotions and limiting beliefs providing emotional freedom - the freedom to choose how you are in the world rather than your usual way of reacting to events.
This is achieved by "tuning" into an issue (emotional, physical or behavioural problem) and by tapping on specific accupressure points while remaining tuned into the problem, it is possible to release the negative emotion that has caused the disruption to the body's energy system, thus making a very positive impact on dis-ease.
EFT is similar to but not as complex to use as TFT (Thought field therapy).
