Christina Spaccavento Counsellor

I am a registered counsellor and have a Master of Health Science (Sexual Health) with a major in Counselling from the University of Sydney. I run my own clinical practice in Potts Point and work with clients that present with a broad range of life, sexual and relationship issues. I specialise in the areas of sex therapy, relationship counselling and trauma therapy. I am client centered in my approach and work with clients on all levels, from the practical, to assist with better daily functioning, to the deepest layers where there is underlying trauma.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and I combine multiple approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Mindfulness and Meditation, Gestalt Therapy, Schema Therapy, Sex Therapy, Relationship Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Positive Psychology, practical life skills training and communication training. Therapy sessions with me are a combination of skill building, psycho-education and healing and sessions provide clients with the perfect opportunity to understand what is happening in all aspects of the self; psychological, emotional, intellectual, physical, cultural and spiritual so that they can be engaged with their healing at every step of the therapeutic process.

With a background in cross-cultural communication, I work well with clients from diverse cultural, demographic, linguistic and religious backgrounds. I am a fluent speaker of modern Italian and offer appointments in English and Italian.

I run sexuality and relationship workshops for health professionals and the public and have made various expert contributions to print, radio and television media in the areas of sex and relationships. I am the sex and relationships expert for Women's Health and have made guest appearances on National Geographic’s ‘Taboo’ series and Channel 7’s The Morning Show and The Daily Edition.
