What is involved in treatment?
When visiting an Osteopath at Caringbah Osteopathic Centre the consult begins with a full case history and physical examination. Treatment then follows and is specific to each individual presentation, but can involve:
- Massage
- Stretching (MET)
- Manipulation
- Myofascial release techniques
- Counterstrain
- Cranial techniques
- Dry needling
- Postural advice
- Exercise prescription to perform at home
We do refer to GPs, other healthcare providers and for imaging, for both diagnosis and treatment depending on the presentation.
Private Health Fund, WorkCover and Medicare
Osteopathy is a recognised primary health care that can be claimed through your private health fund if it is covered in your policy. Please check with your health fund for further details.
We treat patients through Medicare under the Enhanced Primary Care Program but you will need a referral from a GP for this.
The Osteopaths at Caringbah Osteopathic Centre are registered with WorkCover, but you do need a referral from a GP.
