What is Lymphatic Drainage?
Swelling in the connective tissue can cause immobility and pain often described as a tightness or heaviness in the affected area.
As an integral part of our treatments to address these issues Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLD) is used to stimulate the lymphatic system allowing lymph to be transported from the connective tissue more efficiently improving tissue health and relieving congestion. Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) which is known as one of the best methods for accelerating lymh flow and tissue healing of scars, muscle, ligaments and tendon damage may also be used as well as Negative Pressure Therapy (NPT) which has been shown to improve treatment outcomes and decrease treatment time in clients with lymphoedema. Kinesiology Tape is used to prolong the effects of the treatment.
Each of these modalities are included in the treatment price and are used as necessary.
Clients can be assured they are in trusted hands. The methods described above are the gold standard in treatment care. Our clients also have access to a private facebook group where they can learn from each others experiences, treatments, surgeries etc and benefit from posts regarding the latest news on all things oedema.
An ongoing Treatment Plan to manage your condition is also provided as well self care advice such as dry body brushing, diet and exercise. Compression can be arranged when required and measurements are done from time to time to establish a base line and record progress.
Conditons that benefit from Lymphatic Drainage:
- Lymphoedema
- Lipoedema including pre and post surgery treatment
- Scar Tissue
- Cording
- Node removal / trauma after Cancer treatment
- Trauma from surgery
What to expect?
Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a gentle form of massage that stimulates the lymph nodes and encourages drainage using slow rhythmic movements to remove waste products from the connective tissue. Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a painless technique used to improve healing and accelerate lymph flow while Negative Pressure Therapy (NPT) feels a little like cupping but clients are not left with a hematoma.
It is a very relaxing experience!
