Welcome to Christine Hart - Bowen Therapy
Wouldn’t it be great… if you could lie on a massage table for a short while, feel totally relaxed… drift off to sleep… and wake to find that the pain you experience daily, which started after a car crash many years earlier, was significantly relieved or even totally gone!
What if… you were carrying around the burden of a problem that you couldn’t shift or had a feeling of anxiety and didn’t know why… and a few days after your Bowen treatment you just didn’t feel that anxiety anymore.
What if… your toddler is so constipated that a suppository is needed to achieve a bowel movement… and after a couple of Bowen treatments taking only minutes each… bowel movements become regular and, in addition to this, sleeping and eating patterns improve.
Bowen Therapy can be beneficial for:
- Back pain and sciatica
- Headaches and migraines
- Neck and shoulder problems
- Respiratory problems including asthma, hay fever, sinus, ear aches and infections
- Allergies, eczema, psoriasis
- Cold and flu symptoms
- Stress, tension and anxiety
- Digestive and bowel problems, IBS
- Sports injuries and accidents, training enhancement
- RSI, tennis elbow & carpel tunnel syndrome
- Knee, ankle and foot problems
- Menstrual/hormonal pain and irregularities
- Fertility, pregnancy and labour support
- Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome as well as other chronic conditions
- Chemotherapy (and other cancer treatment) symptom relief
- Baby feeding & sleeping problems, colic & other digestive issues and “clicky hips”
- Childhood anxiety and behavioural problems
Research has shown that child illness and behavioural problems can stem from their birth experience… Birth is traumatic for every baby, especially for babies who have been induced, experienced a long labor, had an assisted birth (i.e. forceps/suction), delivery by caesar (planned or emergency), premature delivery, or other complication.
- General wellbeing and illness prevention
About Bowen Therapy
Bowen Therapy is an internationally recognised form of body work in which very subtle rolling moves are performed over muscles, nerves and soft connective tissue (fascia), in specific sequences separated by short rest periods.
The Bowen moves produce a powerful healing response in the body that improves circulation and lymphatic drainage, aids in the assimilation of nutrients and assists with the elimination of toxins. This response not only affects the musculoskeletal framework but also the fascia, nervous system and internal organs. Through the effect on the nervous system, the body relaxes and is able to start the healing process, correcting dysfunctions and restoring balance on a holistic level. This produces relief from pain, stress and illness, regardless of the cause.
The fascia, superficial and deep connective tissue, forms a continuous sheath throughout the body and is a major fluid pathway of the body. The fascia’s hydration level, provides strength and support for the musculoskeletal system. The Bowen moves produce a piezoelectric effect which attracts water molecules to the area to rehydrate and restore critical inter-fibre distance, restoring the cellular transit routes of the fascia.
Clients with a new injury often respond immediately and even those with long term problems can experience dramatic improvement after the first treatment.
Bowen Therapy is safe and recommended for everyone from highly trained athletes to pregnant women, newborn babies, children and the elderly.
After a treatment most people feel relaxed yet energised and alert, ready to resume their day. Regular Bowen treatments help keep energy levels high and protect against stress, injuries and illness.
Because Bowen Therapy initiates a healing process, it is best not to have any other type of body or energy work 5 days either side of the Bowen treatment.
History
Tom Bowen (1916-1982) was born in Melbourne and started the development of his natural ability to facilitate healing in the 1950’s as a trainer with junior football clubs.
In the early 60’s he practiced as an Osteopath. By the mid 70’s Tom Bowen was giving 300 treatments per week, using the unique method developed by him, at his Geelong practice - as reported in the Fed Govt’s Webb Report on alternative therapies.
Since 1986, Ossie Rentsch, who studied with Tom, has faithfully preserved the technique and promoted it world wide through his organisation, Bowtech.
Qualifications
Chris qualified as a Bowtech (the original Bowen technique) practitioner in 2003 and has been a full member of the Bowen Association of Australia and Bowtech Acadamy of Australia since that time.
When new qualifications came in, Chris completed the additional modules required to obtain the nationally accredited qualification of Certificate VI in Bowen Therapy. She is currently undertaking the advanced studies for Diploma of Bowen Therapy through Border College of Natural Therapies.
Chris has also completed a number of specialised Bowen Therapy workshops over the years. One of those workshops involved using Bowen to help release post traumatic stress from the body. Chris has done extensive research on the effects of trauma and has had success in applying this to her clients.
Chris has a special interest in providing Bowen Therapy to children, having been involved in support programs for children and parents for many years prior to moving to Bribie from Sydney in 2001. Chris has also been to workshops and done research on the effectiveness of Bowen Therapy in overcoming many health and behavioural issues in children, which often stem from birth and early childhood experiences.
Chris worked at Healthy Life Bribie Island from July 2006 to Feb 2011. During that time she treated many customers with a wide range of symptoms. Chris is highly acclaimed in the local community for her skills, patience, compassion and understanding of people’s problems.
Chris has now relocated to Springwood in the Blue Mountains, NSW.
