Ayurveda is an ancient health system that originated in India over 5,000 years ago. It’s based on the idea that the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected, and that balancing these elements is the key to achieving optimal health and wellbeing. The word Ayurveda (Sanskrit: आयुर्वेद) comes from the Sanskrit words Ayur, meaning life, and Veda, meaning knowledge ~ so together, the science of life.
Ayurveda offers a personalized approach to health and wellbeing, taking into account an individual's mind-body-spirit type, known as their Prakriti. Our Prakriti is made up of a unique combination of three fundamental energies or Doshas, called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. According to Ayurveda, our modern diet and lifestyle, stress, environmental factors, and genetics all play a role in the development of imbalances, or Vikruti.
The goal of Ayurveda is to help individuals achieve and maintain a state of balance, which can be achieved through a combination of dietary and lifestyle strategies, yoga and meditation, bodywork therapies, and herbal medicine. By addressing the root cause of health issues rather than just treating symptoms, Ayurvedic treatments can help restore health and prevent disease.
Together with clients, Stacey draws on the ancient wisdom of Ayurvedic medicine and the practice of yoga to address individual health concerns and goals. She has a special interests in mental health, neurodiversity, chronic pain and other chronic health conditions, as well as women's health.
During an Ayurvedic consultation, Stacey will take the time to truly understand your unique mind-body-spirit type (your Prakriti), as well as any imbalances (your Vikruti). This deep understanding of your individual needs and health goals allows Stacey to develop a treatment plan that's tailored specifically to you.
Your Ayurvedic treatment plan may include a variety of approaches, from nutrition and lifestyle recommendations to yoga and meditation, bodywork therapies, and herbal medicine. Throughout your treatment journey, Stacey will work closely with you to help you implement positive changes and maintain optimal health and wellbeing using the wisdom of Ayurveda.
