MEET SARAH
Hello my name is Sarah Harwood. Since I was a little girl I have always been the person that people would confide in. When I started teaching music at the age of 16 my students would often talk to me about difficulties at home or school. This inspired me years later to complete a Master of Arts in Counselling, specialising in marriage, children, and families. Since then I have enjoyed helping people discover their strengths to lead contented and fulfilling lives.
I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. I understand parenting and relationship challenges. You will often find me outside with my children or my head in a good book (when I have time!).
I love the work that I do. I believe in providing a safe and non-judgemental environment to all my clients. Building a relationship is my fundamental counselling approach and I enjoy forming trusting and genuine relationships with my clients. My counselling style is warm, accepting, and playful. I strongly believe that everyone can make significant progress in the counselling process.
My practice is backed by extensive training in expressive therapy such as sand tray, art, and music. I have provided mental health therapy to young children (0-6), adolescents, adults and families.

THERAPY FOR ADOLESCENTS
Working with teens to offer a safe space to help them develop self-understanding, self-advocacy, and lead happier contented lives. We work with teens on a variety of challenges as they transition into adulthood including self-esteem, trauma, school life, and sexuality.
FAMILY THERAPY
The family system is a powerful system, which means that it may be difficult to break communication patterns and roles. Family Therapy can be effective in addressing concerns within your family. I like to help families who would like to better understand their challenges as well as focusing on the strengths of the family.
INDIVIDUAL ADULTS
Providing individual sessions to adults for a range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, trauma, relationships, self-esteem, sexual health, parenting, family separation, life transitions, and pregnancy (prenatal and postpartum).
COUPLES THERAPY
Marriage and romantic partnerships often experience challenges. Couples Therapy can be used to gain great skills as you move forward in your relationship.
Blooming Heart Therapy will start at the beginning. How did you and your partner meet? We will look at the challenges you are facing and investigate what your partnership/marriage would look like if things were going well. Blooming Heart Therapy will also help parents who are experiencing conflicting parenting styles and values.
In your couples therapy session Blooming Heart Therapy may apply the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy, a highly regarded and effective method of therapy.
GOTTMAN BRINGING BABY HOME: NEW PARENTS WORKSHOP
The Gottman Bringing Baby Home Program is a class that was created by John and Julie Gottman to help couples prepare for life with a new baby. It increases the joy of parenting and gives new parents the tools they need to be the best parenting team possible. The program provides the opportunity to plan ahead, so that new parents can keep their friendship strong and develop strategies for parenting intentionally. You will learn to be mindful to respond to the needs of your partners and babies, so that each person in the family feels loved and respected. The workshop is best taken before or during pregnancy but it can be taken anytime after baby is born. Children up to 3 years of age are welcome.
