Beyond the Shell

Founded by Paul Anthony Cohen in 2017, Beyond The Shell provides a wide range of coaching services that are based on strong values, passion for helping others, and ethics. Four years ago, Paul set out to formalise his coaching passion and expertise by starting a Certificate IV in Life Coaching from the Life Coaching Institute.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck his family and he lost his older sister (who was his greatest inspiration and believer), so he put the course on hold. He still held onto his dream of completing the course and founding his own company.

The turtle logo of Beyond The Shell was derived from his sister's love of turtles. Turtles are symbolic for:” Patience, slowing down, staying grounded  even in times of disturbance and chaos, emotional strength and understanding, resilience, determination and patience”. The tag line “Emerge, life awaits” is symbolic for emerging from the protective shell of the turtle to discover and move towards your life goals”.

Over the past 40 years, he has experienced unhealthy thoughts, actions and life barriers, so he wants to help clients understand how these things impact them and how to overcome them. Paul has leveraged his life experience to enhance his abilities and take a holistic view of client's needs to supplement his coaching style and skills.

Paul worked as a medical scientist for 20 years and he has integrated his science and medical background into his coaching philosophy. Though his approach is holistic, it's largely based on scientific and medical evidence. His expertise is unique and he has extensive life experience.

Beyond the Shell offers coaching services such as general life coaching, career choice, change and progression, executive leadership, workplace individual or team performance and communication, business process and change management, and life cycle coaching. Paul can also facilitate the enhancement of Emotional Intelligence, trust, teamwork, and engagement using the "FISH!" philosophy.

About Paul Cohen

I have worked in the pathology sector as a biomedical scientist, in the corporate, pharmaceutical world and with multiple medical device start-up companies. I’ve been coaching and mentoring people for over 40 years.

In fact it turned out to be the most satisfying part of the job, so eventually I decided to become a full time, fully qualified life coach.

Over the years I’ve coached and mentored top executives and PhD students. Managed change in large organisations, and helped people handle change in their own personal situations. And it was a pleasure to learn, during my studies, that the methodologies I’ve been putting into practice for decades, were fully underlined by cold, hard, scientific fact. As a biomedical scientist at heart, those are the kind of facts that I like. So if you feel stuck.
