Do I Need a Referral?
No. In Australia, Osteopathy is an integral part of primary care industry which means you do not need a referral to see an Osteopath.
Trigger Point Dry Needling
Tegan is an Osteopath who incorporates trigger point dry needling into her treatments if required and the client consents to dry needling. Dry needling is a form of treatment that uses very fine needles to release trigger points/"knots" in the muscles or fascia. The concept is based on the work of Travell and Symmonds - as the needle enters the trigger point it disrupts the contractile behaviour of the muscle causing it to release. There is no medicine injected into the body with the needle (unlike a syringe), it is purely a sterilized needle.
