I practice Transpersonal Psychology Art Therapy using a variety of mediums and approaches matched to the clients’ needs, for people wanting to further personal development, or to look at “unfinished business” or issues, often at times of transition or readiness in their lives.

The Phoenix Institute describes the Transpersonal Psychology model as “a special focus on psychology, spirituality and holistic approach to health and well-being...based on self-awareness, creativity and authenticity”

Gain new awareness, healing, meeting your authentic resonance and meaning through client-centred life-affirming Art Therapy .

A non-diagnostic process, the client uses art materials and processes in their way at own pace, around own chosen “hot” (immediate) or considered topic, with the freedom of choosing when, how much and what one wants to disclose in a guided and supported, confidential environment.

There is no need to have had any experience in art or art mediums. People can work in their own ways or explore new ways

“It’s the process, your process, not the product, that is important”

Art therapy and its benefits

This holistic and client-centred approach Art therapy is the therapeutic use of artmaking, within professional relationships...

Through creating art and reflecting on the art products made and processes, clients can increase awareness of self and others and relationships; cope with symptoms, stress and source own wisdom, talents, skills, experience; enhance cognitive, insight and intuitive abilities; consider forward planning ; whilst enjoying the life-affirming pleasures of making art.

It allows opportunity for psychological growth and the acceptance by self and others, and to recognise and celebrate one’s talents, skills, gifts from the past and to further new possibilities in life.

....................................................

ART THERAPY is a suitable match for these issues/concerns:
  • around changes in one’s life, to survive these & to increase satisfaction
  • wish to change direction or one’s own behaviour
  • wanting to address body/other issues: operation-change or accident-damage, “stuckness”, re-claiming or claiming self
  • release of unwanted &/or unneeded connections (habits, ways of seeing, relationships)
  • meeting loss/grief with personal relevance
  • wish to reclaim expressiveness, to reclaim creativity, finding one’s own symbols and their meaning, to move more knowingly into one’s future.

Questions & Answers

I don’t feel i need therapy but i feel i would like to address some worries, some hopes and dreams, some issues in my life. Would art therapy be of help?

Yes, transpersonal art therapy is person(client)-centred and you know yourself best and can direct the sessions to what would be of use to you, and allow for your bigger picture to become clearer

....................................................

What if i cant draw?

You don’t have to. Art–therapy is about imagery, yours, what resonates for you. We think in images, visual or sometimes words or phrases. We can source other ways to aid your processes of finding and meeting what is important for you to explore.

....................................................

Art was always my worst subject. And my sister is the artist in the family.

People sometimes have had bad, sad or maddening (discouraging) art experiences at school and elsewhere and have lost their confidence in their own creativity. Sometimes we have internalised high expectations that we feel we cant meet.(Yet). Art therapy is about the process of healing, growing, not about the product though this can be rewarding too...

....................................................

Sometimes i fear that if i work on something, anything in therapy, I might not be able to stop “unpacking” all my concerns, feelings and then not being able to pack it up again...?

Art therapy can let you set the pace, as much as you feel safe, comfortable with meeting with at this time.

....................................................

I don’t have a particular concern, I’m just curious...

Some people come because they want to know themselves and the worlds we live in better: the good, the bad & the ugly, the beautiful, our specialness and being real....and move more knowingly, with greater awareness, into our futures.
