Oncology Massage is extremely gentle, repetitive and is designed specifically to the individual based on their current levels of health, fatigue, pain levels, and so on. Depending upon the person's needs the massage can be performed with clothes on (no oil used) if this is better for the client. The length of time of each session is also guided by the client themselves. A thorough assessment is performed during the initial consultation so that together we can design a treatment best suited for the client.
One of the most gentle techniques used, is the Bone Marrow Sequence. This requires a gentle sequence of holds around the body, from the head down to the toes along the arms and legs and back to the head. This is very effective for those people really struggling with fatigue and pain levels. There is nothing more comforting than the gentle touch of another's hands.
These lovely relaxing techniques are also extremely beneficial to people who don't have cancer, but may suffer with Anxiety, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Allodynia, etc.
For these techniques I use Melrose Sweet Almond Oil as it is natural and doesn't require the body to become overstressed and exert too much energy to process.
