Continence
Continence problems are much more common than you would think. Incontinence affects around 4 million Australians. If you have a continence problem, you are not alone.
Incontinence is a widespread condition that ranges in severity from 'just a small leak' to complete loss of bladder or bowel control. Incontinence can be treated and managed. In many cases it can also be cured.
While these problems are difficult to talk about, there are solutions to all incontinence problems and there is no need to suffer in silence. The following symptoms are indicative of continence issues:
- Needing to go quickly (urgency)
- Needing to go very often (frequency)
- Only passing a small amount (micturition)
- Going to the toilet multiple times at night
- Lack of sensation in your perineal region
- Not knowing when you are passing water
- Passing a small amount of fluid with coughing/sneezing/lifting (stress incontinence)
- Having no control over when you pass water or solids
