About Me
Fiona studied Smart Bowen over a period of four years and received her Diploma in Bowen Therapy in May 2014.
During her studies Fiona gained invaluable experience by providing treatments to a diverse range of people, with a very wide range of conditions, aches, pains and injuries.
Fiona found it very rewarding to see people get lots of relief from her treatments, for which she received much positive feedback.
Fiona is a fully accredited member of the Bowen Therapists Federation of Australia.
Previous to starting her own Bowen business, Fiona had many years of experience of working in the community sector, including working with many people with a disability.
She has 20 years of experience with community based counseling which has enhanced her naturally good listening skills. She is a very empathetic person who is willing to listen but is very respectful of peoples’ boundaries and is aware that people are primarily there to receive a remedial treatment in a peaceful environment.
Fiona came to Bowen as a result of having lived with chronic pain (fibromyalgia) for many years after a car accident. After trying numerous different approaches to alleviate her pain and getting only brief, if any, relief from any of them, Fiona tried Bowen Therapy. She started to improve and continued to get more and more freedom from pain.
Bowen Therapy has been and is a precious gift to Fiona that has changed her life, and she is delighted to be able to offer it to other people now.
About Bowen Therapy
Bowen therapy is a gentle “hands on” treatment that involves a series of gentle cross fibre movements over fascia. Fascia is connective tissue and is found throughout the body. It comes in many different forms including tendons and ligaments and it covers all of our muscles, bones and organs.
The Bowen moves bring increased blood and oxygen to the area and restores the fascia to its optimum functioning. This allows the fascia to do its multiple tasks more effectively such as helping the body to process metabolic waste, thus reducing pain and inflammation, helping muscles to relax and increasing their range of movement.
