ABOUT ME

As a counsellor I focus on the here and now of counselling. I have completed courses in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and use this as well as Mindfulness in my counselling sessions.

I began my career by completing the Telephone Crisis Counselling Course with Lifeline in Brisbane. Enrolling in this course and volunteering on the phones provided the essential basis of counselling. Telephone crisis counselling is brief therapy focusing on the here and now, enabling you as a client to maintain focus until you can access your own counsellor or psychologist.

Whilst working with Lifeline, I started a Diploma of Professional Counselling with the Australian Institute of Professional Counselling. It was here that I was able to start implementing the key therapeutic techniques such as Solution Focus, Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural therapies.

Once my Diploma was completed I moved forward to complete my Degree of Applied Social Science in Counselling.

Whilst studying I have volunteered and then accepted employment at the Men’s Information and Support Association. Counselling men, women and children in various issues including depression, anxiety and relationship counselling.
