Cancer is a controversial topic, with many treatments professing to cure or prevent the disease. Choosing a cancer treatment involves an in-depth discussion with your health care professional. And only once you and they weigh up all the options can you make an informed decision that’s best for your body.

Some say ozone therapy is a beneficial cancer treatment. But does it work? And what does it involve?

We put ozone therapy under the microscope…

What does ozone therapy involve?

Ozone therapy is also known as oxygenation therapy, autohemotherapy, oxidology, ozone therapy, and many other terms.

It involves placing certain substances into the body, where they produce oxygen. This additional oxygen is said to help the body fight cancer-causing cells.

The compounds used in ozone therapy are a mix of ozone (O3) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Together, these are a form of oxygen.

The gas is sometimes added to other liquids and air before being put into the patient’s body through an opening or orifice. Some techniques involve injecting the ozone into blood, which is then placed back into the body.

Another ozone therapy option is taking hydrogen peroxide orally or by an injection.

The amount of ozone used in the treatment is up to the physician, who will assess the patient’s needs and calculate the required amount.

What are the benefits of ozone therapy?

Practitioners say ozone therapy can:

  • Disinfect wounds
  • Reduce viruses and bacteria
  • Boost circulation
  • Enhance immunity
  • Aiding chronic inflammation

As a result, ozone therapy is commonly used for infections, wounds, inflammation, circulation problems, diseases such as herpes and hepatitis, burns and infections.

Ozone therapy is also said to help treat cancer, heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, and diabetes.

Is ozone therapy effective?

The question is – does ozone therapy actually work? That depends on who you ask. The Ozone Association in Germany provides a long list of ailments and illnesses that can be treated with ozone therapy.

At this stage, however, science hasn’t been able to prove the effectiveness of ozone therapy. More evidence is needed before ozone therapy is promoted as a mainstream treatment – especially when it comes to chronic conditions and disease.

Medical authorities warn that injecting ozone can be dangerous, with a risk of blood clots in the lung, resulting in death.

As with any treatment, ensure you understand the risks involved and weigh those up against the benefits. And always seek professional medical advice before treating chronic conditions.
