Join Tracky Dack Day 2021 and Help a Sick Child

What can be more comfortable than donning a pair of tracky pants to work? Wearing this pair of comfy pants, especially on 27th August, will not only allow you to move with more ease but also make a beautiful sick child smile no end. So, join Tracky Dack Day 2021 and be one with Australia in injecting optimism and joy into the lives of kids in hospital who are currently on a difficult journey.

What is Tracky Dack Day?

An annual event that focuses on the health and welfare of sick children in Australia, Tracky Dack Day is celebrated on the last Friday of August. Call it casual clothes day if you wish, as everyone dresses down in their trackies, baggy pants or any comfy pants, rather than in standard office attire. Students wear dacks to school as well. Even children in hospitals are encouraged to trade their hospital gowns or pyjamas for a comfy pair of tracksuit pants to lift their mood and give their day-to-day routine an interesting twist.

The fundraising event was started by the amazing charity organisation TLC for Kids in 2011. They are Australia's fastest emergency response children's charity that's been serving as the pillar of strength for sick kids and their families, helping them through times of crisis with relevant charity services. All donations coursed through this dedicated charity are used to improve the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of every sick child, providing them with the necessary medical equipment, mental health services and emotional support. TLC for Kids also assists their family with household bills, while giving their parents some time for respite care to recharge their energy.

Thanks to Tracky Dack Day, TLC for Kids has also successfully equipped more than 400 hospitals and clinics in Australia and New Zealand with therapeutic distraction boxes that contain therapeutic items, like specialty toys, to divert the attention of a child during a medical or emergency procedure.

What Can You Do on Tracky Dack Day?

Tracky Dack Day is a simple idea that has helped millions of Australian children during the most critical times of their lives. Using everyday clothes, which everyone used to wear only at home or for running errands, the event has not only turned tracky pants into a modern fashion statement but most importantly, it has managed to render them as a statement of solidarity with kids who are facing difficult times.

On this awareness day, slipping into a fun pair of trackies and making a gold coin donation is a big step you can take to improve the lives of many children suffering from a chronic illness or an incurable genetic disorder. A sick child from a broken family, whose mental anguish is more than the physical pain that they feel, will also appreciate hospital visits. These amazing children don't expect you to bring the cure; just being there during their darkest hours, providing them with comfort in times of uncertainty is enough to make them feel better.
