How Your Subconscious Limiting Beliefs Are Running Your Life

Well we all had experiences in childhood where our parents and caregivers did and said things that may have been less than nurturing. For most of us they were impactful and others were deeply damaging. Our subconscious mind has stored all these experiences and how we feel about life from birth.

As children we don't have the words, or the ability to make sense of things, and we often internalise what was said and done to us, and they then become the stored emotions we never felt and negative imprints, which become stored in our subconscious mind. 

These imprints we believed were the truth, but unfortunately most of them are lies, false beliefs, which are keeping us from our truth as adults today.

As a child, the negative imprints over time become limiting beliefs about ourself and the world. Initially our mind created them, as it believed it was keeping us safe, because the mind is always wired to help us survive. But as adults, limiting beliefs are holding us back from our life goals and keeping us stuck. We all experience limiting beliefs through thoughts, behaviours, and coping mechanisms of all types. They are repetitive negative beliefs, thoughts and opinions we hold of ourselves.

The biggest issue lies in the fact that when we are struggling with things in our adult life, whether it's our own lack of self-confidence, addictive behaviours, relationship and money struggles, or not feeling enough or loveable, we need to understand how true freedom from limiting beliefs lies in the subconscious mind.

So what's the difference between our conscious, subconscious mind?

Each waking day we navigate the world with our conscious mind. To make decisions and create the life we love. This is using will power to try and create change. The way our mind works is basically like a memory bank. We wake up and think about our issues, and because our mind is wired to go back to the familiar, we go back to what we know best, our past stored subconscious beliefs.

For the majority of us this is happening unconsciously. Our awareness of what our limiting beliefs are just not conscious. And how the mind works is that the subconscious mind has 95% control over our lives, and it is making all our decisions without our awareness.

For example, you keep on attracting relationships that are never long-lasting, yet in your mind you want to be in a loving and committed relationship. This is your conscious mind wanting commitment. So you meet someone new and before you know it, you're self-sabotaging yet another relationship three months in.

So why is this happening?

It's the unhealed wounds and triggers from your past that have been stored in your subconscious mind. The old limiting belief that told you "it's not safe to be in a committed relationship, you get hurt" comes up because maybe your parents divorced when you were a child and the familiar behaviour of self-sabotage is the coping mechanism that helps you avoid ever having to be hurt again. 

Until you rewire the subconscious limiting beliefs… a committed relationship seems to be out of reach.

So how do you remove subconscious limiting beliefs?

You de-program your mind and reprogram your mind by working with the subconscious mind. This is how hypnotherapy works: it works with the subconscious mind, where lasting change is created.

When you connect in a relaxed state in hypnotherapy, you are able to easily and effortlessly access the root cause of the limiting beliefs. You gain adult understanding of how the experiences in your childhood created the stored subconscious limiting beliefs. And in the same session, you reprogram new empowering beliefs. It's neuroplasticity and it's now understood that neuroplasticity is considered one of the most important developments in modern science in understanding the brain. Neuro: The cells in the brain. When we understand how the subconscious mind stores limiting beliefs, we can understand our blocks in life and why we do the things we do and why we have certain habits and behaviours that are more problematic than helpful. This is why to create lasting change, we need to identify the subconscious limiting beliefs.

Because the mind learns through repetition, a new positive belief then has to be rewired repetitively into the subconscious mind. This is how hypnosis recordings work. You listen to the new empowered beliefs and it becomes the new imprint in your subconscious mind. As we know it takes 21 days to create a new habit, so listening for this period strengthens new pathways in the brain and new behaviours become second nature.
