National Carers Week 2019 is all about recognising and celebrating the outstanding and self-less contributions of the over 2.7 million carers in Australia. This week-long campaign is an opportunity to raise community awareness among all Australians about the diversity of carers and their caring roles.
Carers make an enormous contribution to the community, as well as our national economy. Aside from the direct benefits they have to their patients, just imagine when carers stop doing what they do. Data shows that it would actually cost the country $60.3 billion per year to replace those supports, which is over $1 billion per week.
National Carers Week, which is an initiative of Carers Australia, provides you with a chance to show your appreciation and learn about carers and caring in Australia. Carers Australia organises and coordinates National Carers Week with the assistance and participation of the state and territory Carers Associations.
National Carers Week 2019 will be celebrated throughout Australia from 13 – 19 October.
