The 15th Annual National Conference of Massage & Myotherapy Australia is coming back to where it all started. Expected to be the most important and biggest massage and myotherapy therapy industry event in 2019, the conference will be held on 24-26 May 2019 at the Canberra Convention Centre in Canberra, ACT.
To celebrate the 15th year of the conference, the theme will be "The Matrix. The profession... where do I fit in?" and will be featuring Australian presenters, including Nadine Champion, Dr Francesca Panzironi, Jeff Shearer and Leonie Naumann and Susan Butcher of the Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA).
According to M&MA National Conference Committee Chairman Garry Lavis, this year will be different because it will celebrate the diversity of the massage and myotherapy profession from humble beginnings to what it has become today.
Myotherapy is a form of physical therapy which focuses on the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain and associated pathologies. It incorporates trigger point therapy and a wide range of soft tissue massage and manipulation including: muscle energy technique, dry needling, and joint mobilization. Myotherapists also use stretching, nutritional advice, exercise prescription, postural advice and education, heat and cold therapy, ultrasound and TENS.
