The following recipe will make two litres of sparkling iced tea.
Ingredients
- 1 litre water
- 2 tea bags (choose a green tea or an herbal tea that you like)
- 2 lemons
- 2 limes
- 1/4 cucumber, sliced
- 1 bunch fresh mint leaves
- 1 litre sparkling water
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Boil water and add the tea bags and half of the mint leaves and let it steep for 5 to 10 minutes, depending on how strong you would like your tea to be. Once brewed to your liking, remove the tea bag and mint leaved from the infusion and let completely cool.
- Once your tea is completely cool, you can squeeze the juice of half a lime into the tea and cut the remaining half into slices and set aside for decoration. Add the lemon and lime juice to the tea infusion. When the mixture has cooled down, add the cucumber slices and the rest of the mint leaves.
- Just prior to serving, mix 1 part of the tea infusion with 1 part of sparkling water just before serving. Decorate with mint leaves, a lime or lemon slice and some cucumber slices.
- For added antioxidants and taste, try adding a handful of blueberries. You can add them at the stage where the tea is completely cool and you have added your cucumber slices.
