What is Holistic Life Coaching?
Holistic life coaching is a more integrated approach to life coaching, and typically examines all aspects of an individual’s life. Holistic life coaching is beneficial for individuals wanting to make a change to their lives and realise their full potential. The life coach is involved as a tutor and mentor, providing guidance for the client. The great advantage of using a life coach is that they are impartial, unlike family or friends and the baggage we hold with them. Life coaches must also not be confused with counsellors or therapists, as they do not offer psychological evaluation. Rather, they expect the individual to be motivated, free of any impediments and ready to work on change.
Holistic Life Coach Assessment
A holistic life coach will conduct an initial assessment of a client, examining all aspects of their life, including the following features:
- Family
- Health
- Home life
- Job satisfaction
- Money
- Personal growth
- Spirituality
This initial assessment allows the life coach to determine which aspects of the client’s life are lacking. A written document is normally then produced by the life coach for the client, detailing a summary of all the points covered. A plan of action is then drafted with goals and strategies for the client to work to. This can include homework, which is often an integral part of the process, and can involve any range of activities including investigating areas of specific interest, research and further reading.

Sessions typically occur weekly, though the client can often determine what best suits them. The number of sessions is largely governed by client needs, though life coaches will often have a minimum and maximum guideline.
