Master therapist, motivational speaker and author Bill O'Hanlon was recently in Sydney bringing his solution-oriented approach to a wider audience, with a workshop hosted by the Australian Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy (AICH) and Australian Hypnotherapists Association (AHA). The theme was "Dealing with Your Most Difficult Clients: Effective Strategies for Dissolving Resistance and Creating Therapeutic Change", a two-day course aimed at giving therapists the tools to help guide challenging clients forward in their therapy journey, with a range of inspiring techniques and insights.
In Conversation with Gordon Young
As an inspirational public speaker, Bill has a busy schedule; though he still found the time to chat to AICH director and lead trainer Gordon Young. In the video interview above, Bill talks about his collaborative, solution-oriented approach to life which is centred around:
- People having the innate ability to heal themselves
- Removing barriers to promote success
- Making many small changes rather than attempting a large single adjustment
- Having a range of resources (such as hypnosis) to draw upon to help achieve this
- Being kinder to yourself and others
- If a pattern is not working for you - break out of it
More about Bill
Bill is best known for authoring Do One Thing Different: Ten Simple Ways to Change Your Life, which led to his appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show - though this is only one of 33 titles he has authored to date. Student of the renowned Milton Erickson – the pioneering psychiatrist, psychotherapist and hypnotherapist – Bill was clearly inspired by his mentor to go into a prolific career that spans writing, coaching and public speaking with a range of seminars, websites, blogs, web-based courses, teleclasses and audio visual programmes.
