We’re two months into social distancing and counting. Many things have changed since the COVID-19 outbreak, including activities we’ve grown accustomed to, in order to remain compliant with the protective measures set by the Australian government.
However, that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything to entertain yourself anymore. There are several fun and healthy activities you can do alone or with friends despite your physical distance. We list 5 of them below. Read on and get started.
Exercise Outdoors
If you’re starting to get cabin fever and bored with your indoor workout program, invite a friend to exercise with you outdoors. Walking, jogging and biking are some of the beneficial exercises you can do while maintaining a safe distance of 6 feet from each other. Besides, you can use some fresh air and sunlight to clear your mind and stimulate positive thoughts.
Learn a New Skill
Whether it’s playing an instrument that you’ve been eyeing for a long time or baking a moist carrot cake, there’s no better time to start learning a plethora of things than now. Thanks to video chat apps like Zoom, you can even do this with a buddy.
Reorganise Your Home
How long has it been since you last sorted your wardrobe and bric-a-brac in every room of your house? If you couldn’t remember, this is the perfect time to revisit your stuff and put away items you don’t use anymore and could donate under better circumstances. A clean and orderly home will give you a sense of lightness and clarity.
Start an Art Project
There’s something magical if not therapeutic about arts and crafts. It’s a unique activity that allows you to create beautiful things with either scrap or new objects. Think of a cool project — tie-dyed T-shirt, 3D model house, pillowcase... your choices are infinite! You can work on it alone or engage a friend via Zoom. This way, you need not worry about disobeying social distancing rules.
Read a Nice Book
If you’ve been meaning to read something from your bookshelf, but never got around to doing so because of your busy schedule in the past, well now is your chance to devour every single paperback you set your eyes on. This is a healthy way to while your time away and divert your mind from mundane issues.
Social distancing aims to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease, not turn us all into a recluse. With these 5 fun and healthy activities, we can continue enjoying our lives and growing our relationships.
